ABSTRACT

PurposeThis research set out to investigate the quality service and self-determination theory (SDT) that contributes to the continuance usage of m-banking.Design/methodology/approachA valid of 310 respondents who experienced and intensified using the m-banking is collected. The proposed research model is empirically tested using structural equation modelling.FindingsThe result informs that the service quality can not only be significantly mediated by the SDT, but it also has a direct effect to the satisfaction. It also informs that the satisfaction and the perceived usefulness indeed have a significant effect to the continuance usage intention of the m-banking. In addition, it also demonstrates that the perceived competence and perceived relatedness of the SDT significantly influence satisfaction and perceived usefulness towards the continuance usage intention of the m-banking.Practical implicationsPractically, the results inform the bank management the factors to be taken into account to increase the motivation of the existing customers for them to continue using the m-banking.Originality/valueTheoretically, these results contribute to the existing literatures of the m-banking by introducing the SDT that determines the continuance usage intention of it.

ABSTRACT

Purpose: The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has led to the pervasiveness of food delivery apps (FDAs) and the increased scholars' attention for the topic of FDA continuance usage intention. However, the limited understanding about possible segments of FDA users has hindered food retailers from providing FDAs with a personalized manner, which impairs the effectiveness of marketing strategies. Thus, this study aims to first explore key antecedents of users' continuance intention toward FDAs and then segment and profile Taiwanese users based on the identified antecedents of FDA continuance intention and demographics. Design/methodology/approach: An online survey was implemented to collect responses from FDA users in Taiwan. With a response rate of 82.4%, the final sample of 326 respondents (average age = 28.3;female = 54.9%) was analyzed by using two techniques of structural equation modeling (SEM) and cluster analysis. Findings: The results indicate six antecedents of users' continuance usage intention towards FDAs, including information quality, system quality, information quality, perceived usefulness, perceived enjoyment and satisfaction. Additionally, three distinct clusters of FDA users are successfully identified, labeled as "value sensitive users”, "time-sensitive users” and "security sensitive users”. Originality/value: This study is one of the pioneers that explores the possible segments in FDA market, which helps FDA providers and food retailers develop more focused and appropriate strategies to encourage users to continue using FDAs. Our findings contribute to building an optimized version of "FDA Tech” that becomes an omni-channel solution to serve the increased home-delivery needs in the new normal era. © 2023, Emerald Publishing Limited.

ABSTRACT

Purpose The e-health services came up as an effective tool to mitigate effects of COVID-19 and following social distance norms. This study highlighted an issue of contentious usage intentions of e-health services among Thai older citizens. This study aims to examine the relationship of social influence (SI), information quality (IQ) and the digital literacy (DL) to contentious usage intentions. Design/methodology/approach This study follows quantitative techniques, and the sample size is 140 to analyze, that is collected from the older Thai citizens. The convenient sampling technique was used to collect the data and the items were measured by using a five-point Likert scale. Findings The findings of this study are having mixed results. The effect of DL and satisfaction (SAT) on continuous usage intention (CUI) is significant. The effect of IQ and SI on CUI is non-significant. The effect of IQ and SI on SAT is significant. Further, the mediating effect of SAT between IQ and CUI is non-significant. However, the mediating effect of SAT between SI and CUI is significant. Originality/value This study contributes to knowledge by empirical testing of DL and usage of the medicine. Furthermore, to the best of the authors' knowledge, this study is one of the rare studies that incorporate technological intervention for drug usage intentions.

ABSTRACT

This article aims to investigate the determinants of the Intention to Use (IU) the Moodle Distance Learning Platform (MDLP) of the Virtual University of Tunis during the total containment period (since march 2020) and its Continuance Usage Intention (CUI) in the future by public Tunisian university teachers. Technology Acceptance Model and Expectation Confirmation Theory were used as base models to elaborate the research model. Then, data were collected by questionnaires from 270 university teachers. Data analysis was performed through PLS-SEM approach. Results show the relevance of the developed model. They revealed the teachers’ awareness about the necessary evolution towards innovative teaching methods, which will encourage the Ministry of Higher Education and decision-makers to transform the COVID-19 pandemic into an opportunity, and seize it to enhance the experience already started and gradually generalize distance education.

ABSTRACT

Purpose>The aim of this study was to find out the factors that influenced customers' continuance usage intention of food delivery apps (FDAs) during COVID-19 quarantine.Design/methodology/approach>The information was obtained by applying an online survey to a sample of 295 residents in Tijuana, Mexico, who were repeat customers of the FDAs during COVID-19 quarantine. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA), the average variance explained (AVE) and composite reliability (CR) were conducted to ensure the validity of each construct. Multiple regression analysis was done to identify predictors of customers' continuance usage intention.Findings>Based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT-2), four constructs were included: effort expectancy, performance expectancy, food and beverage quality and price saving orientation. Multiple linear regressions were carried out to assess the relationship between the four dimensions and customers' continuance usage intention of FDAs. The results obtained show that effort expectancy, performance expectancy and price saving orientation influenced the customers' continuous usage behavior.Originality/value>This study contributes to the body of knowledge on consumer behavior on the continuance usage intention of FDAs during the COVID-19 pandemic, which has been scarcely studied. Also, the food and beverage quality construct was proposed, and the price value construct from the UTAUT-2 theory was adapted to price saving orientation.

ABSTRACT

Purpose The usage rate of mobile financial services (MFS) has shown an uptick since the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic in Bangladesh. This study aims to reveal the underpinning reasons for such MFS surge and its continuance by integrating health belief model (HBM) and expectation confirmation model (ECM). Design/methodology/approach The study analyzes 529 MFS users' responses during the second wave of the COVID-19 outbreak in Bangladesh using the partial least square method. Findings Satisfaction is more predictive than perceived usefulness in explaining continuance usage intention. Expectation confirmation also indirectly affects continuance intention. Among the HBM constructs, the indirect effect of perceived severity on continuance intention via perceived usefulness and satisfaction is significant. Besides, the impact of self-efficacy on continuance intention is also significant. Moreover, perceived credibility significantly affects satisfaction and indirectly affected continuance usage intention via satisfaction. Practical implications The study projects boosting customers' satisfaction is critical for the successful retention of existing MFS customers. MFS service providers should emphasize the factors that amplify satisfaction. They must evaluate preadoption factors so that customers can have positive confirmation. Especially, the service providers, the policymakers and the regulators should take an active role in improving the users' self-efficacy and the system's credibility. Undertaking the MFS literacy program, installing hotline service to provide emergency help will boost users' confidence in using the system. Originality/value The study is a unique contribution in the context of Bangladesh. To the best of the authors' knowledge, no previous MFS studies in Bangladesh explored MFS continuance usage intention during COVID-19 and beyond. Besides, the inclusion of "perceived credibility" in the framework will supplement the earlier studies conducted on this aspect.
